During his apprenticeship as a machine mechanic, Ueli had the opportunity to learn machine tools programming at an early stage. After completing his basic training, he gained experience in CNC machining industry for another year.
He went on to work at IBM Switzerland as a programmer (languages Cobol, RPG, C) and database administrator (DB2 and SQL-Server). This was the start of an exciting time travel through information technology. For several years Ueli planned and implemented database applications for various industries (manufacturing companies, real estate management and services) in the area of individual software on mainframe systems used at that time.
He joined BOVARD and developed a bespoke data management system for patents, trademarks and designs whilst completing his studies of business data processing. Soon the time of PCs came, we redeveloped our inhouse created software as a client/server solution (Powerbuilder, C++, SQL-Server) and soon realised that the management of documents and e-mails was of central importance. The introduction of a document management system (DMS) was a key project and enabled BOVARD early on to work largely paperless. The change and refinement of a standard software solution for IP management keeps Ueli busy and engaged.
Ueli describes his job as a computer scientist at Bovard AG as fun, full of challenges with a healthy dose of surprises.
